Our Place Family Resource and Early Years Centre is a place that offers early learning programs to encourage the optimal development of children and families.

We are also a place for parents and caregivers of children up to age 6 to get information and support. Our Place runs the Ontario Early Years programs for Kitchener.

Please use the links at the side to find more information about where to find us, costs and benefits, volunteer information, and some background about how we got to where we are today. The links will also take you to information about the children's and adults' programs.

Greetings Parents and Caregivers,

The Waterloo Region Ontario Early Years System is looking for input! Getting your feedback will help shape Waterloo Region’s OEYC service planning for the future.  Below is a link to a short survey that should not take more than a few minutes to complete.  Encourage others who have participated in Early Years programs to do so too.  The Waterloo Region Early Years System needs your help to ensure as many families as possible complete the survey by June 20th.

If assistance is needed to complete this survey, contact Our Place.

Our Place Family Resource and Early Years Centre is excited to announce we have received 2 year funding from Lyle S. Hallman Foundation for an exciting, new initiative that supports and enhances early learning capacity and successful transition to school for children.  Working together with OEYC Waterloo Region, we will build organizational and family support sector capacity for further reflection, exploration, deeper understanding and implementation of pedagogy specifically the Ministry of Education framework document "How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years". Strengthening implementation of the Early Learning framework will enhance quality and consistency in early learning settings through providing a common approach to more cohesive and integrated service delivery for families.

Our Place Family Resource and Early Years Centre is excited to announce that we have received 1 year funding from Autism Speaks Canada to continue our work in furthering the development of enhanced supports for families impacted by Autism through Autism specific programs, integrated programs, and building early years staff/volunteers' capacity in the delivery of programs and services across Waterloo Region OEYC's.

Did you notice this symbol on our front door?? This means that we are an autism friendly environment!  What's the significance of this symbol?

  • The legs of the "A" represent both ends of the spectrum that join forces to break barriers and push beyond boundaries that have limited people's perceptions of autism.
  •   The strength of its apex prevents the box from ever closing again.
  • The "A" appears to step triumphantly over the line, pushing laterally as well as vertically to expand the spectrum and provide a "bridge" for those who want to explore and learn more about autism.

Due to an increase in programming at St Louis Adult Learning Centre, the parking lot has been busier than ever. We ask for patience from our families as we work out a suitable arrangement with the Catholic School Board regarding the parking issue. In the meantime, we are asking families to be aware of where they are parked as tickets will be issued to those parked in designated areas; fire routes, handicap and temporary spaces. Parking is available on Blueridge Dr.

Our Place Family Resource and Early Years Centre offers free or low cost programming. If you are in need of financial assistance, please call 519-571-1626 ext. 25 before registering for programs.

If you or your children are ill, we ask you do not attend programs. If you are registered in a program, we ask you call the centre and let us know you will not be attending that day.

Peer passes are available for a fee of $5 for Creative Cooking. Passes are available only if space is available in the peer program that morning. Participants will have already signed in as drop in and must have their children in the school readiness program before obtaining a peer pass. Peer passes are to be given out by the facilitator only. Participants then take the pass back to the front reception to change their program in the database and to pay the appropriate fee. Currently, Peer programs include: Creative Cooking and are subject to change.

In our efforts to ensure the safety of everyone in our centre:
- We ask that if you have a ride that is coming to the centre to pick you up to please let the front desk reception know. If we know that you are expecting someone to check in and ask for you, we will ask them to sign in and they can come to find you. If we do NOT know of any pick up arrangements, we will ask the person to wait in the front hall while we come and find you. -We ask that EVERYONE signs in as they arrive in the centre as this helps keep Our Place a safer place for everyone.
- We do lock the front doors daily from 3:30-4:00 p.m. on Monday's,  Tuesdays and
Thursdays. The office will remain open during this time but anyone arriving at the centre must ring the bell to gain entry. We thank everyone in advance for their cooperation.
